She is the granddaughter of former Georgian President and Soviet minister of foreign affairs Eduard Shevardnadze, and was known to join him on some high-level meetings between the Soviets and the Americans when she was a teenager.[3][4] She was born in Georgia, Soviet Union, but the family moved to France when she was 10. She learned ballet and piano and got a diploma from the Conservatoire de Paris. She graduated with a cinema degree from Boston University in 2001 and studied in the masters program in TV journalism at New York University. After graduation in 2005, she worked as a producer for ABC-TV, before returning to work in Georgia.[5] After hearing about the upcoming launch of RT, she moved to Moscow and has been a presenter with the network since the launch.[6] She hosts interviews with politicians, diplomats and news personalities in her show, SophieCo. She speaks Georgian, Russian, English, French, Italian and Japanese.[7] She was also a dancer on the Russian version of Dancing with the Stars 2010.[8] Also known as a socialite, she often attends high-fashion events in Europe and Russia.[9][10][11] References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://en.ura-inform.com/politics/2010/04/30/ex_gruzia |title=Sophiko Shevardnadze |publisher=Ukrinform |date=30 April 2010 |accessdate=20 June 2011 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110723025804/http://en.ura-inform.com/politics/2010/04/30/ex_gruzia |archivedate=23 July 2011 }} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Shevarnadze, Sophie}}2. ^{{cite news|url=http://rt.com/about/on-air-talent/sophie-shevardnadze/|title=Sophie Shevardnadze - RT on-air talent|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121113145735/http://rt.com/about/on-air-talent/sophie-shevardnadze/|archivedate=13 November 2012|deadurl=yes|df=}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://articles.latimes.com/1990-08-02/news/mn-1355_1_soviet-union/2|work=Los Angeles Times|first=Jim|last=Mann|title=Baker, Shevardnadze OK Cooperation in Asia; No Afghan Breakthrough : Diplomacy: 2 nations no longer adversaries in Asia, they agree at Siberian talks mixing business, pleasure|date=2 August 1990|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121107094735/http://articles.latimes.com/1990-08-02/news/mn-1355_1_soviet-union/2|archivedate=7 November 2012|deadurl=yes|df=}} 4. ^{{cite news|url=http://articles.latimes.com/1990-08-01/news/mn-1653_1_soviet-union|work=Los Angeles Times|first=Paul|last=Dean|title=Baker Nets New Friends but No Fish in Siberia|date=1 August 1990|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121107094754/http://articles.latimes.com/1990-08-01/news/mn-1653_1_soviet-union|archivedate=7 November 2012|deadurl=yes|df=}} 5. ^{{cite web|last=Shonia|first=Nina|title=Challenges and Aspirations of Sopho Shevardnadze|url=http://www.bsj.ge/newspaper/2005/09/14/EEkyyAppkZOsNJOkgj|work=Brosse Street Journal|accessdate=28 May 2011|date=14 September 2005|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120323085248/http://www.bsj.ge/newspaper/2005/09/14/EEkyyAppkZOsNJOkgj|archivedate=23 March 2012|deadurl=yes|df=}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rlcentre.com/imgs/pozindex.htm |title=Russia Today launches trial broadcast |accessdate=20 June 2011 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20111007092317/http://www.rlcentre.com/imgs/pozindex.htm |archivedate=7 October 2011 }} 7. ^Globalteacherprize, Sophie Shevardnadze {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161220101432/http://www.globalteacherprize.org/academy-member/sophie-shevardnadze/ |date=20 December 2016 }} 8. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ambebi.ge/sazogadoeba/16451-sofo-shevardnadze-da-qsenia-sobchaki-erthmaneths-cekvashi-ejibrebian.html |accessdate=20 June 2011 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110903214212/http://www.ambebi.ge/sazogadoeba/16451-sofo-shevardnadze-da-qsenia-sobchaki-erthmaneths-cekvashi-ejibrebian.html |archivedate=3 September 2011 }} 9. ^{{cite news|url=http://visualrian.ru/ru/site/gallery#508907|title=Visiarian|publisher=Ria Novosti|accessdate=20 June 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/6Cs8CXezM?url=http://visualrian.ru/ru/site/gallery#508907|archivedate=13 December 2012|df=}} 10. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/bpVZXizPwlt/Dolce+Gabbana+Martini+Dance+Art+Garage/yeCbN9IwJxW/Sofiko+Shevardnadze|title=Sofiko Shevardnadze Pictures - Dolce&Gabbana And Martini - Dance Art Garage - Zimbio|work=Zimbio}} 11. ^{{cite web |url=http://english.imedia.ru/news/6082/ Retrieved 20 June 2011 |title=Charity Bazaar 2010 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110815174348/http://english.imedia.ru/news/6082/ |archivedate=15 August 2011 }} 10 : 1978 births|Boston University College of Fine Arts alumni|Russian journalists|Journalists from Georgia (country)|Living people|New York University alumni|Women writers from Georgia (country)|Echo of Moscow radio presenters|Russian women writers|RT people |
