The aim of the site was to cover all genres without prejudice, to appeal to an audience of professional DJs and dance music fans. Since 2017, Soundplate has also been developing a range of tools for music artists. The Soundplate website also features interviews, articles, a frequently updated news section, reviews, competitions, music videos, video features, podcasts, event listings and a tickets section. In the past, Soundplate has also hosted and streamed a dance music industry debate in July 2013 'The Soundplate Great Vinyl Debate',[5] an awards ceremony.[6] and previously provided a weekly chart for Ministry of Sound Radio [7] Record LabelSoundplate Records has released music for a number of high-profile electronic music artists including Bakermat,[8] Opia,[9] Uppermost, Andrew Applepie[10] and an official remix of album[11] of the late Nina Simone.
