The House State Properties Committee is an eleven-member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and eight members. The Committee operates under a House mandate to oversee Georgia's Department of Corrections.[1]

Scope and jurisdiction

The House State Properties Committee is responsible for oversight of Georgia's Department of Corrections, to ensure it protects and serves the public and is conducted as a professional organization that manages offenders and helps to provide a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Georgia. The committee also oversees the Georgia Building Authority which manages facilities for all state agencies. The committee also has jurisdiction over "legislation concerning pardons and paroles".[1]
