The church was consecrated on Tuesday 1 June 1852 by the Bishop of Worcester.[4] A restoration and cleaning was undertaken in 1867, when improvements were made to the heating and lighting of the church.[5] On being made redundant by the Church of England in 1967, the building was empty and became vandalised. It was converted by Astley Towne Developments[6] into residential apartments in 2004 at a cost of £1.2m. The conversion won the following awards:
