The name Structube is derived from an abbreviation of the French term "structures tubulaires".[6] In 1980, Structube first opened its doors as a furniture retailer, on the corner of Sherbrooke and Parc,[7] in downtown Montreal. Structube has continued to expand and diversify its furniture selection over the years. Originally built in 2006, the current distribution center was expanded from 54,000 sq ft to 122,000 sq ft in 2010. A third expansion took place in 2013.
