It came close to extinction in the 1970s;{{r|chris|page=193}} recovery was based on three flocks found in the villages of {{illm|Esarp|sv}}, Tofta and {{illm|Vomb|sv}}, all in Skåne.{{r|kackel}} A breeders' association, the {{illm|Svenska Lanthönsklubben|sv}}, was formed.{{r|chris|page=193}} In 2014 a total population of 1592 was reported to the DAD-IS database of the FAO.{{r|dad}} Fifteen birds were exported to the United States in 2010.{{r|chris|page=193}} CharacteristicsThe Blommehöna is characterised by its millefleur plumage pattern.
