After moving to the States and studying fashion marketing, Raassi opened a high-end boutique in Washington DC where she oversaw all aspects of business from construction, buying, and merchandizing to finance and payroll. While shopping for her boutique in São Paulo, Brazil during fashion week, Raassi became inspired to design her own line of swimsuits, Dar Be Dar. Raassi later left the store and started traveling the world to find the best fabrics, manufactures, and suppliers ultimately selecting Medellin, Colombia for production.[3] Since its inception Raassi’s line, Dar Be Dar, has sponsored the Washington Wizards Dance Team and was the official swimwear sponsor for the Miss Universe 2010 pageant.[4] Dar Be Dar, means door to door in Raassi’s native language, Persian. In slang it means someone that is all over the place. “It represents me as a designer, because I had to go door to door to figure out the process of starting a fashion business.”[5]{{deadlink|date=October 2018}} In 2012, Raassi was called “One of the Most Fearless Women in World” by Newsweek Magazine.[6] Tala Raassi has stated she "aims to celebrate the beauty of the women’s body through her designs and empower women all around the world to follow their dreams." For Tala Raassi, “fashion is freedom.”.[7] AppearancesTala Raassi was on the program to appear in 3 events at the 2017 Brisbane Writers Festival in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.[8][9] References1. ^{{cite web|last=Raassi |first=Tala |url=http://www.marieclaire.com/celebrity-lifestyle/articles/tala-raassi-punishment-iran |title=Tala Raassi's Punishment in Iran for Breaking Islamic Rules |publisher=Marie Claire |date=2010-02-05 |accessdate=2012-03-10}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.thedailyfemme.com/femme/2010/05/recommended-interview-tala-raassi-who-survived-40-lashes-for-wearing-a-mini-skirt/ |title=Recommended Interview: Tala Raassi who survived 40 lashes for wearing a mini skirt | Women's Interviews |publisher=The Daily Femme |date=2010-05-18 |accessdate=2012-03-10 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110719234214/http://www.thedailyfemme.com/femme/2010/05/recommended-interview-tala-raassi-who-survived-40-lashes-for-wearing-a-mini-skirt/ |archivedate=July 19, 2011 }} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.globalthinkersforum.org/speakers-2/ |title=Speakers; |publisher=Global Thinkers |year=2012 |accessdate=2012-05-16}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.darbedar.net/events.html |title=Dar Be Dar Events |publisher=Dar Be Dar |date= |accessdate=2012-03-10 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120116214024/http://www.darbedar.net/events.html |archivedate=January 16, 2012 }} 5. ^{{cite web|last=Raassi |first=Tala |url=http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=108118|title=DC rising designer Tala Raassi's dresses and inspires most beautiful women in world|publisher=9NewsNow |date=2010-08-10}} 6. ^{{cite web|last=Raassi |first=Tala |url=http://www.thedailybeast.com/features/150-women-who-shake-the-world.html|title=150 Women in the World Tala Raassi|publisher= News Week Magazine |year=2012 |accessdate=2012-04-13}} 7. ^{{cite web|last=Raassi |first=Tala |url=http://www.aol.com/video/youve-got-tala-raassi/517329054/ |title=You’ve Got Tala Raassi |publisher=AOL |year=2012 |accessdate=2012-04-10 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120420041916/http://www.aol.com/video/youve-got-tala-raassi/517329054/ |archivedate=April 20, 2012 }} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.mup.com.au/blog/mup-authors-appearing-at-the-brisbane-writers-festival|title=Quentin Bryce launches the Brisbane Writers Festival program|date=2017-07-27|work=Melbourne University Publishing|access-date=2017-09-04}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.uplit.com.au|title=Brisbane Writers Festival 2017|last=|first=|date=|website=Uplit|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=2017-09-04}} External links
