Tamarin was the place of the Catholic mission on the Cottica River, which operated a church, a boarding school, a clinic, and a sawmill.{{sfn|Van Eyck|1954|pp=191-195}} The mission was deserted during the Suriname Guerilla War. Only the school is still in operation today. Since 2011, there has been a road connecting Tamarin to the East-West Link, via the laterite road that had already connected Wanhatti since 1972.[1] Notes1. ^{{cite news |last=Mulder |first=Nikki |date=2013-02-23 |title=Hoop voor vergeten dorpen aan de Cottica |url=http://nikkimulder.wordpress.com/2013/02/27/hoop-voor-vergeten-dorpen-aan-de-cottica/ |newspaper=De Ware Tijd |location=Paramaribo |publisher= |accessdate=2014-09-01 }} References
