The department protects an area of {{convert|40.5|sqmi|sqkm}}, which includes Arizona State University, and services a population of just over 162,677 people.[1] Additionally, the TFMRD has mutual aid agreements with 26 other fire departments in the Phoenix area.[4] In 2013, the department changed its name to Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department to "more accurately portray to the citizens the services that our organization provides to the community."[1] Stations & ApparatusThe department has 6 stations spread out across the city.[1]
