William Terry Ork was an American band manager and record producer for the new wave/punk music scene in New York City in the mid 1970s. Ork is associated with the success of the club CBGB as manager for punk band Television and musician Richard Hell.[1] Ork arrived in New York City in 1968 to help Andy Warhol with Warhol's movies.[2] While working as the manager of a film bookstore called Cinemabilia, Ork met Billy Ficca, Tom Verlaine and Hell of the Neon Boys and introduced them to Richard Lloyd.[3] Ork began managing the new band when they reformed as Television.[2] In 1975, he founded Ork Records which released Television's Little Johnny Jewel (1975), Richard Hell's Blank Generation, The Marbles' Red Light (1979) and Mick Farren's Lost Johnny, among other recordings.[4] Farren said, "Terry Ork was an idealist, as true to the punk ethic as you could be, which means that when it all started getting slick, and the bands were getting deals, Terry was left behind."[4] He died in San Diego on October 20, 2004. In the 2013 film CBGB, Ork was portrayed by Johnny Galecki.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite news|url=http://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/film/2013/10/11/cbgb-rise-punk-no-holds-barred-party|title=CBGB: The Rise of Punk in a No-Holds-Barred Party|last=Ring|first=Trudi|date=October 11, 2013|work=Advocate|accessdate=28 June 2015}} 2. ^1 {{cite journal|last=Birch|first=Ian|date=December 17, 1977|title=The Ork Talks|journal=Melody Maker|url=http://www.thewonder.co.uk/pdfs/The%20Ork%20Talks.pdf}} 3. ^{{cite book|last1=McNeil|first1=Legs|last2=McCain|first2=Gillian|title=Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk|year=1996|chapter=18}} 4. ^1 {{cite book|last=Thompson|first=Dave|title=Alternative Rock|year=2000|publisher=Miller Freeman Books|isbn=0-87930-607-6|pages=800–1}} Further reading
