They were to be members of Fall Experimental Football League. The team was owned by former NFL players Tommie Harris and Eric Bassey.[1] They announced that the team colors were to be platinum and black, but had yet to announce a home stadium. They shared the mascot name with another team in Austin, the Austin Outlaws of the Women's Football Alliance.[2][3] The Outlaws did not play in FXFL's inaugural 2014 season.[4] As of the end of the 2014 season, the team was still being considered as a possibility for 2015.[5] Such an arrival for 2015 was ruled out on July 16, 2015,[6] and thus the Outlaws never played before the FXFL ceased operations before the end of the 2015 season. FXFL CEO Brian Woods would eventually bring minor-league football to Austin in 2018 when he held that year's edition of The Spring League in Austin. He returned The Spring League to Austin in 2019, with one of its teams receiving a permanent branding as an Austin-based team; this team's name would be the Austin Generals instead of the Texas Outlaws.[7] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Ex-NFL Players Tommie Harris and Eric Bassey Own FXFL teams |url=http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/11111753/ex-nfl-players-tommie-harris-eric-bassey-own-fxfl-teams|accessdate=October 20, 2014|work=espn.com|agency=Associated Press|publisher=ESPN|date=June 20, 2014}} 2. ^New FXFL minor league football is coming to Austin this fall, Ryan Lakich, Culture Map Austin, June 22, 2014 3. ^{{cite news|last1=Solomon|first1=Dan|title=The NFL-Style Developmental Football League Launching This Fall Will Base Its Texas Team in Austin|url=http://www.texasmonthly.com/daily-post/nfl-style-developmental-football-league-launching-fall-will-base-its-texas-team-Austin|accessdate=October 20, 2014|work=Texas Monthly|publisher=Emmis Publishing|date=June 20, 2014}} 4. ^{{cite news|last1=Seifert|first1=Kevin|title=New FXFL to begin play in October|url=http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11381573/new-fall-experimental-football-league-prep-players-midseason-tryouts|accessdate=October 20, 2014|work=ESPN.com|publisher=ESPN|date=August 21, 2014}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=FXFL satisfied with mini-season|url=http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/fxfl-satisfied-with-mini-season-112114}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=Brawlers will be part of FXFL|url=http://www.vindy.com/news/2015/jul/16/fxfl-makes-things-official/|accessdate=July 16, 2015|work=Vindy.com|publisher=The Vindicator|date=July 16, 2015}} 7. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.thespringleague.com/2019/03/18/spring-league-unveils-austin-generals-homage-host-city/ |title=The Spring League Brands Team as Austin Generals in Homage to Host City |publisher=The Spring League |date=March 18, 2019}} External links
