It was founded by Cindy Barber and Mark Leddy.[2] History of The BeachlandOriginally constructed in 1950 as the Croatian Liberty Home,[3] the site was active on many social and political fronts.[4] The ballroom and tavern areas were part of the initial structure, with the kitchen and back bar sections being added in 1976.[5] Euclid Beach Park,[6] a well-known amusement park that operated between 1894 and 1969, was located at the north end of E. 156th Street, less than a half mile north of the building.[7] The term "Beachland" became slang for the North Collinwood neighborhood around the time, and the venue was named as an homage to the era. Nods to "Beachland" remain in various businesses throughout the area, but little of the former Euclid Beach Park still exists.[8]References{{Refbegin}}{{Refend}}1. ^{{cite book| last=Taxel | first=Laura | title= Cleveland Ethnic Eats | publisher= Gray & Company | year=2009 | isbn= 1598510533}} 2. ^{{cite web|author=Laura DeMarco, The Plain Dealer |url=http://www.cleveland.com/music/index.ssf/2014/02/the_beachland_ballroom_transfo.html|title=The Beachland Ballroom transformed the Cleveland music scene, and a neighborhood|publisher=cleveland.com |accessdate=February 21, 2014}} 3. ^{{cite web|author=Welcome to Collinwood |url=http://welcometocollinwood.com/index.php/involved/cindy-barber/|title=Welcome to Collinwood: Spotlight - Cindy Barber|publisher=WelcometoCollinwood.com |date= |accessdate=}} 4. ^{{cite web|author=Case Western Reserve University |url=http://ech.case.edu/cgi/article.pl?id=C13|title=CROATIANS - The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History|publisher=ech.case.edu |date=July 15, 1997}} 5. ^{{cite web|author=About.com |url=http://cleveland.about.com/od/concertvenues/p/beachland.htm |title=About The Beachland Ballroom|publisher=About.com |accessdate=December 5, 2014}} 6. ^{{cite book| last1=Francis | first1=David W. | last2=DeMali Francis | first2=Diane | title= Cleveland Amusement Park Memories: A Nostalgic Look Back at Euclid Beach, Puritas Springs Park, Geauga Lake Park, and Other Classic Parks | publisher= Gray & Company | year=2004 | isbn= 1886228892 }} 7. ^{{cite book| last=Davids | first=Judy | title= Rock Star Mommy: Motherhood, Music and Life as a Rocker Mom | publisher= Kensington Publishing Corp. | year=2008 | isbn= 0806535687 }} 8. ^{{cite web|author=Beachland.com |url=http://www.beachlandballroom.com/info/history |title=History - The Beachland Ballroom & Tavern|publisher=Beachland.com |accessdate=December 5, 2014}} External links
