It was built in two phases; in 1902 and 1910. The first section was designed by architect Willis G. Hale (1848-1907) as a set of ten houses massed as six units. It was converted to apartments by Milligan & Webber in 1910.[2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places in Pennsylvania}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Powelton, The}}{{PhiladelphiaPA-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite web| url = https://www.dot7.state.pa.us/ce/SelectWelcome.asp| title = National Historic Landmarks & National Register of Historic Places in Pennsylvania| publisher = CRGIS: Cultural Resources Geographic Information System| format = Searchable database}} Note: This includes {{cite web| url = {{NRHP-PA|H001451_01H.pdf}}| title = National Register of Historic Places Registration Form: The Powelton| accessdate = 2012-07-03| author =Carl E.
