}} Thomas Nicholls ({{circa|1825}} – 24 March 1896) was an English sculptor.[2] He established a long partnership with the architect William Burges,[5] beginning with Burges's first major commission, Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork. He then followed Burges to Cardiff, working on both Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch, the fantasy palaces Burges constructed for John Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute. Nicholls had two sons who followed him as sculptors, Thomas O. Nicholls (born c.1863) and Edward W. Nicholls (born c.1867).[2] Notes1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite web| publisher = Sculpture.gla.ac.uk| title = Thomas Nicholls – Mapping the Practice and Profession of Sculpture in Britain and Ireland 1851–1951| date =| url = http://sculpture.gla.ac.uk/view/person.php?id=ann_1270727750| accessdate = 1 April 2012}} [1][2]2. ^1 2 {{cite web| publisher = VictorianWeb.org| title = Thomas Nicholls| date = 9 December 2011| url = http://www.victorianweb.org/sculpture/nicholls/index.html| accessdate = 1 April 2012}} }} External links
