His recent writing credits include Kylie Minogue, Snakehips and AlunaGeorge, amongst others. CareerAfter graduating from Central Saint Martins college in London, Tom Aspaul began his career in music writing for other artists. In October 2013, Aspaul signed with Little Boots' label, On Repeat Records.[2][3] His only release with the label, the MNEK-produced single "Indiana", attracted support from Popjustice[4] and Pitchfork.[5] A remix of "Indiana" went on to top the Hype Machine Chart.[6] The original version of the song was covered and renamed as "Feels So Good" by Australian singer Kylie Minogue.[7] Minogue included it on her twelfth studio album, Kiss Me Once, with Aspaul contributing backing vocals.[8] On 10 December 2014, Tom premiered "Good Together",[9] the first single from his debut mixtape, Revelation. The song, produced by GRADES, received support from Huw Stephens and was named by former BBC Radio 1 DJ, Zane Lowe as his "Next Hype".[10] The mixtape was self-released 19 May 2015, receiving acclaim from Billboard magazine.[11] Tom co-wrote and featured on XYconstant's single, "Do It Well", released on FFRR Records/Parlophone in September 2015.[12] The track was featured on several 'Best of 2015' lists,[13][14][15] eventually being nominated[16] for the 2016 Popjustice £20 Music Prize, an annual prize awarded by music website Popjustice, recognising the best British pop single of the previous year. In November 2015, Tom was chosen by BBC Radio 2 DJ, Jo Whiley as one of three acts from the West Midlands to perform at her BBC Introducing showcase, preceding the BBC Music Awards in Birmingham.[17] Tom released his first full EP, LEFT on BLK&WHT records on 4 November 2016, featuring work with frequent collaborators MNEK and GRADES.[18] In the summer of 2017, Aspaul launched a successful music and pop culture podcast, Bottle Pop with Tom Aspaul. He is the host of the show, with musical guests including MNEK, Becky Hill and Clare Maguire; and journalists from ShortList, Attitude and The Guardian.[19][20] Aspaul frequently cites the work of Rodney Jerkins, Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez amongst his main influences.[21] DiscographyEPs
