Everuss returned to Broken Hill in 1927 where he resumed his work as a fireman. In 1929 he married Jean Isobel Glenn and they lived in South Broken Hill until he transferred to the fire station at South Bankstown where he served for twenty years. Upon retirement they moved to Umina where they lived until his death in 1979.
