To make the 7 minute 43 second film, Pessoa's drawings were transferred to glossy paper, brushed with India ink, scratched with a blade to give the effect of an engraving, then photographed. National Film Board of Canada film composer Normand Roger supplied the score for the film.[1][2] The film was the second in a trilogy of animated shorts by Pessoa about childhood, between A Noite (1999) and Kali the Little Vampire.[3] ReceptionTragic Story with Happy Ending has received numerous awards, becoming one of Portugal's most acclaimed animated films.[4] They include the Cristal and TPS Cineculte awards for short film at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, as well as a special international jury prize at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival.[5]References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://upmagazine-tap.com/en/pt_artigos/regina-pessoa-happy-story-with-happy-ending/|title=Regina Pessoa – Happy story with happy ending|last=Serpa|first=Ana|date=1 December 2008|work=UP Magazine|publisher=TAP Portugal|accessdate=7 October 2014}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.animationblog.org/2007/10/regina-pessoa-tragic-story-with-happy.html|title=Regina Pessoa "Tragic Story with Happy Ending"|last=Lumsden|first=Ian|date=11 October 2007|work=Animation Blog|accessdate=7 October 2014}} 3. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.cartoonbrew.com/biz/world-premiere-of-andrea-dorfmans-nfb-film-big-mouth-at-worldwide-short-film-festival-62912.html|title=World Premiere of Andrea Dorfman’s NFB Film "Big Mouth" At Worldwide Short Film Festival|last=Arrant|first=Chris|date=15 May 2012|work=Cartoon Brew|accessdate=7 October 2014}} 4. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.publico.pt/culturaipsilon/noticia/um-museu-de-animacao-no-espaco-rural-1636290#/0|title= Um museu de animação no espaço rural|author= Sérgio C.
