Opened on {{Start date|1930|08|03|df=y}},[2] it replaced the South Lancashire Tramways network. By the standards of the various now-defunct trolleybus systems in the United Kingdom, the South Lancashire system was of medium size, with four routes and a maximum fleet of 71 trolleybuses.[2] It was closed on {{End date|1958|08|31|df=y}}.[2] None of the former South Lancashire trolleybuses has been preserved.[6] See also{{portal|Transport|Lancashire}}
