The tiny dartfish is generally a pale blue-gray color with various light blue or violet spots on its fins and head.[3] The specific name and common name honour the marine biologist Patrick L. Colin who as well as studying the biology of coral reefs collected the type specimen of this species as well in addition to other specimens.[4] References1. ^{{FishBase genus | genus = Tryssogobius| month = June | year = 2013}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q2719412}}{{gobiidae-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|last=Lougher|first=Tristan|title=What Fish?: A Buyer's Guide to Marine Fish|year=2006|publisher=Interpet Publishing|isbn=0-7641-3256-3|page=177}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Tryssogobius colini, Colin's fairygoby|url=http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Tryssogobius-colini.html|work=Fishbase.org|accessdate=5 January 2014}} 4. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.etyfish.org/gobiiformes7/ | title = Order GOBIIFORMES: Family GOBIIDAE (r-z) | accessdate= 16 September 2018 | author1 = Christopher Scharpf | author2 = Kenneth J.
