BiographyChan was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1974 and eventually settled in Vancouver. In Hong Kong, he worked as a stockbroker and floor trader and his personal assets were wiped out by a stock market crash in 1973. He worked as a waiter at the Terminal City Club in Downtown, Vancouver. He received a B.A. in sociology from the University of British Columbia, and joined TD Bank Financial Group in 1978 and was district VP in all 17 TD Canada Trust branches.[5] He also worked as a bartender, a radio program producer.[6][7] In his spare time, Chan is an avid reader, swimmer, and traveller. Chan holds a General Management Diploma from the Institute of Canadian Bankers.[8][9][10] Boards and Memberships[11][12]
