However, the term also refers to Venezuelan-born persons who have Turkish parents or who have a Turkish ancestral background. The Turkish community is largely made up of immigrants, or the descendants of immigrants, born in the Ottoman Empire before 1923, in the Republic of Turkey since then, or in neighbouring countries once part of the Ottoman Empire that still have some Turkish population.[2][3] An estimated 30,000 Turkish Venezuelan people live in the country.[4] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Turk of Venezuela|url=http://www.joshuaproject.net/people-profile.php?peo3=18274&rog3=VE|accessdate=22 October 2012}} {{Turkish diaspora}}{{Ethnic groups in Venezuela}}{{Venezuela-stub}}2. ^{{Harvnb|Karpat|2004|loc=632}} 3. ^{{Harvnb|Powell|2005|loc=297}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Turk of Venezuela|url=http://www.joshuaproject.net/people-profile.php?peo3=18274&rog3=VE|accessdate=22 October 2012}} 3 : Venezuelan people by ethnic or national origin|Turkish diaspora by country|Ethnic groups in Venezuela |
