Kanazawa in 1952.[3] It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the western and southeastern Atlantic Ocean, including Bermuda, the West Indies, Lesser Antilles, St. Helena Island and Ascension Island. It dwells at a depth range of {{convert|0|to|22|m|ft}}, most often at around {{convert|0|to|5|m|ft}}. Males can reach a maximum total length of {{convert|172.4|cm|in}}.[2] The species epithet "bilinearis", treated as an adjective, means "two-lined" in Latin, and refers to the pair of stripes along the length of the eel's body.[2] References1. ^Common names of Callechelys bilinearis at www.foshbase.org. {{Taxonbar|from=Q6411194}}{{Ophichthidae-stub}}2. ^1 2 Callechelys bilinearis at www.fishbase.org. 3. ^Kanazawa, R.
