The village is located in a small valley along the southern shore of the Hardangerfjorden, about {{convert|7|km}} southwest of the village of Dimmelsvik and about {{convert|4|km}} east of the village of Herøysund.[2] The {{convert|0.69|km2|acre|adj=on}} village has a population (2013) of 690, giving the village a population density of {{convert|1000|PD/km2}}.[3] The village is the site of Uskedalen Church.
