释义 |
Tridamos (also Tridamus) is the male deification of supposed bovine triplication in ancient Celtic polytheism, conceived as a manifestation of abundance. Tridamos was worshipped in Roman Britain, and altar-stones raised to him have been recovered in the United Kingdom, such as at Michaelchurch (304). Parallels can be drawn between this deity and Tarvos Trigaranos. The name Tridamos may be derived from the Proto-Celtic *Tri-damos meaning 'threefold bovine one' (q.v.
