In the Book of Mormon, the Valley of Nimrod is the place where the Jaredites gathered with their friends and family after God confounded the languages at the Tower of Babel. BackgroundIn Hebrew and Christian tradition, Nimrod is considered the leader of those who built the Tower of Babel in the land of Shinar.[1] The Book of Ether tells the story of the Jaredites, who were present at the tower. Ether records:
Activity in the valleyOnce in the Valley of Nimrod, the Jaredites gathered flocks, caught birds, collected honeybees, stored seeds, and prepared watertight containers for the journey ahead.[3] The brother of Jared then talked with God and received directions that led the Jaredites across the ocean to the "promised land."[4] References1. ^{{cite journal|last=Menner|first=Robert J.|year=1938|title=Nimrod and the Wolf in the Old English 'Solomon and Saturn'|journal=Journal of English and Germanic Philology|volume=37|issue=3|pages=332–84|jstor=27704407}} 2. ^[https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/1?lang=eng Ether 1:33-42] 3. ^[https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng Ether 2:1-6] 4. ^[https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/2?lang=eng Ether 2:7] 1 : Book of Mormon places |
