The A2 Slovenian motorway runs just north of the settlement core. The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.[3] The local church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Snow ({{lang-sl|Marija Snežna}}) and belongs to the Parish of Šentvid pri Stični.
