She was a research officer from 2002 to 2005; a political officer from 2005 to 2009, and a finance sector officer from 2009 until 2015.[5] Foxcroft has lived in Lewisham, Deptford since at least 2004.[5] Parliamentary careerFoxcroft contested the Lewisham Deptford constituency for the Labour Party at the 2015 general election. She won with a 60.25% share of the vote.[9] Her campaign promised to "reverse the privatisation of the NHS",[10] increase free childcare to 25 hours per week,[10] raise the minimum wage to £8 per hour,[10] and provide jobs to everyone unemployed for more than one year.[10] Her campaign criticised "rip-off letting agents fees",[10] pay-day lenders,[11] the under-occupancy penalty ("Bedroom Tax"),[11] and the trebling of the cap on tuition fees.[11] Foxcroft made her maiden speech in a debate on the Scotland Bill on 8 June 2015, in which she quoted lyrics from The Red Flag.[12] After the first election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader in September 2015, Foxcroft was appointed as a whip.[13] Foxcroft was re-elected at the 2017 snap general election with a 77% share of the vote. ViewsFoxcroft is concerned about rising knife crime. In November 2018, Foxcroft said, "Sadly, the increase does not surprise me. You can't cut police, Sure Start, essential services in schools, access to mental health services and youth work, and not expect there to be a consequence. And beyond the tragic fatalities, there's an exponentially larger number of knife attacks that don't kill children but do create a climate of fear."[14] References1. ^{{London Gazette |issue=61230 |date=18 May 2015 |page=9116}} 2. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.linkedin.com/pub/vicky-foxcroft/4/16/911 |title=Vicky Foxcroft |publisher=LinkedIn |accessdate=5 June 2015 |quote=Birthday: March 9 }} 3. ^1 {{cite web |url=https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2001/oct/03/labourconference.labour3 |title=New Labour's power-dressed future |work=The Guardian |date=3 October 2001 |quote=Vicky Foxcroft, a 24-year-old... |accessdate=5 June 2015 }} 4. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/constituencies/E14000789 | title=Lewisham Deptford Parliamentary constituency | publisher=BBC News| accessdate=7 May 2015}} 5. ^1 2 3 4 {{citation |title=The Politicos Guide to the 2015 General Election |date=2014 |first1=Iain |last1=Dale |first2=Greg |last2=Callus |first3=Daniel |last3=Hamilton |first4=Robert |last4=Waller}} 6. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.labour.org.uk/people/detail/vicky-foxcroft |title=Vicky Foxcroft, MP for Lewisham Deptford | publisher=Labour Party |accessdate=5 May 2015 }} 7. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.lewishamdeptfordlabour.org.uk/about | title=Vicky Foxcroft- Your Labour Candidate for Lewisham Deptford | publisher=Labour Party | accessdate=5 June 2015 }} 8. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.labour.org.uk/people/detail/vicky-foxcroft |title=Vicky Foxcroft, MP for Lewisham Deptford |publisher=Labour Party |accessdate=5 May 2015}} 9. ^{{cite web | url= http://www.parliament.uk/biographies/commons/vicky-foxcroft/4491 | title=Vicky Foxcroft MP | website=parliament.uk | publisher = Parliament UK | accessdate=5 June 2015 }} 10. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite web | url=https://electionleaflets.org/leaflets/full/78796/ | title=Working hard for Lewisham Deptford | publisher=Labour Party | accessdate=5 June 2015 }} 11. ^1 2 {{cite web | url=https://electionleaflets.org/leaflets/full/71561/ | title=Only Labour will save OUR NHS | publisher=Labour Party | accessdate=5 June 2015 }} 12. ^{{cite hansard |jurisdiction=United Kingdom |house=House of Commons | title = Daily Hansard - Debate | url = https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cmhansrd/cm150608/debtext/150608-0003.htm#15060817000145 |date= 8 June 2015 |column_start= 967 |column_end= 970 }} 13. ^{{cite news|last=Chakelian|first=Anoosh |url=http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2015/09/jeremy-corbyns-shadow-cabinet-full-list-ministers|title=Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet: the full list of ministers|work=New Statesman|date=18 September 2015|accessdate=30 January 2017}} 14. ^[https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/nov/29/surge-in-young-knife-deaths-amid-police-cuts-and-climate-of-fear Surge in young knife deaths amid police cuts and 'a climate of fear'] The Guardian. 29 November 2018.
