Leading up to the Games, he won the 100 m breaststroke race with a scintillating 1:02.19 to dip beneath a FINA B-cut (1:03.72) at the Belarus Open Championships in his native Brest.[4] In the 100 m breaststroke, Vabishchevich wound up last and forty-ninth overall to round out the field in heat five with 1:03.29, failing to advance to the semifinals.[5] Vabishchevich also participated in the 4 × 100 m medley relay, along with his teammates Pavel Sankovich, Yauheni Lazuka, and 2004 Olympian Stanislau Neviarouski. Swimming the breaststroke leg, Vabishchevich recorded a split in 1:01.89, but the Belarusian team had to settle for last place with a final time of 3:39.39.[6] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Viktar Vabishchevich|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/va/viktor-vabishchevich-1.html|22 November 2012}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=2012 European Aquatics Championships (Debrecen, Hungary) – Men's 50m Breaststroke Heats|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=00010C030000020200FFFFFFFFFFFF01|format=PDF|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=15 March 2013}} 3. ^{{cite news|last=Rusticus|first=Oene|title=European Juniors Take Aim at Championships Meet Records|url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/15201.asp|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|date=20 July 2007|accessdate=14 March 2013|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130624110813/http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/15201.asp|archivedate=24 June 2013|df=}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Olympic Cut Sheet – Men's 100m Breaststroke|url=http://magazines.swimmingworld.com:9997/SPIPDF/080508olyscutsheet.pdf|format=PDF|page=27|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|accessdate=9 April 2013}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Men's 100m Breaststroke Heat 5 |url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWM031900/index.html |work=Beijing 2008 |publisher=NBC Olympics |accessdate=22 November 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120821062328/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc%3DSWM031900/index.html |archivedate=21 August 2012 |df= }} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Men's 4×100m Medley Relay Heat 1|url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWM451900/index.html|work=Beijing 2008|publisher=NBC Olympics|accessdate=31 January 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120821062615/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/swimming/resultsandschedules/rsc=SWM451900/index.html|archive-date=21 August 2012|dead-url=yes|df=dmy-all}} External links
