It is the subsidiary of V Guard[1][2] V-Star was founded in 1995 by Sheela Kochouseph, the wife of Kochouseph Chittilappilly, founder and chairman of V-Guard and a chain of amusement parks called Wonderla. The company made news in January 2011 in connection with an ongoing labour dispute. BrandsIn 2002 V-Star Creations launched inner wear for women under the brand "Vanessa". In 2004 V-Star began a line of men’s inner wear market with the brand "Valero". In 2012 similar lines for youngsters under "Little Vanessa" and "Little Valero". FacilitiesV-Star has more than 30 manufacturing units spread across India. The company also arranges for units run by charitable institutions to employ women to manufacture its women's products, supplying them with the material.[3] Labor disputeIn January 2011 Kochouseph Chittilappilly, managing director of the company, took a stand against the practice of nokku kooli against a V-Star Creations warehouse in Kochi, the economic capital of Kerala. Activists from the trade union CITU had for months been blocking V-Star Creations employees from unloading lorries at the warehouse, insisting that the company was obligated to use official labour card holders to do the work—or else at least pay a number of them to "observe" the work being done. However, even after the company secured labour cards for its workers, CITU members refused to get out of the way. They were shocked when Kochuouseph Chittilappilly jumped on a truck himself and began unloading.[4][5] Before this incident police had declined to intervene in the blockade. However, by 25 January 2011 the Kerala High Court had ordered police protection for the company's employees, declaring their entitlement to work.[6][7] References1. ^"V-Star Creations a subsidiary of V-Guard manufactures designer in garments and lingerie" Business Standard http://www.business-standard.com/company/v-guard-inds-19611/information/company-history 2. ^Public disclosure of V-Guard http://www.sebi.gov.in/dp/vguardfinal.pdf 3. ^{{cite web|last=Nair|first=G.K.|title=V-Star's for women|url=http://www.thehindubusinessline.in/catalyst/2009/12/24/stories/2009122450080300.htm|publisher=Business Line|accessdate=10 November 2013|date=24 December 2009}} 4. ^{{cite web|last=Mary|first=John|title=Citu revolution: MD turns porter - Fed up with union interference, industrialist unloads goods|url=http://www.telegraphindia.com/1110121/jsp/frontpage/story_13473723.jsp|publisher=The Telegraph (Calcutta)|accessdate=10 November 2013|date=21 January 2011}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Trade union trouble: Kerala manufacturer moves court|url=http://news.legalindia.in/trade-union-trouble-kerala-manufacturer-moves-court|publisher=Legal India|accessdate=10 November 2013|date=22 January 2011}} 6. ^{{cite web|last=Mary|first=John|title=Court restrains CITU from creating trouble at V Guard unit|url=http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/india/140374-court-restrains-citu-from-creating-trouble-at-v-guard-unit.html|publisher=The Peninsula|accessdate=10 November 2013|date=25 January 2011}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=HC to rescue as state withers away in Kerala|url=http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-01-26/news/28430566_1_citu-godown-indian-trade-union|newspaper=The Economic Times|accessdate=10 November 2013|author=Joe A.
