It lies on the east bank of the River Trent, {{convert|2.5|mi|km|1}} north-west from Gainsborough and {{convert|1.5|mi|km}} south from East Stockwith. Walkerith is recorded in the 1872 White's Directory as a small village and township in the Soke of Kirton, with a population of 80 in {{convert|252|acre|km2|0}} of land.
