He also competed in two previous Asian Games (2002 and 2006), but finished outside the top 8.[2] Wang qualified for the men's 50 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 23.29 from the National University Games in Taipei.[3] He challenged seven other swimmers in heat six, including three-time Olympian Julio Santos of Ecuador. He edged out Estonia's Danil Haustov to earn a seventh spot by two hundredths of a second (0.02) in 23.54. Wang failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed forty-eighth overall out of 86 swimmers in the prelims.[4][5][6] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Wang Shao-an|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/wa/wang-shao-an-1.html|7 May 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Wang, Shao-an}}{{Taiwan-swimming-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|title=Wu and Qi Win Third Gold Apiece, as China Winds Up a Dominant Performance at Asian Games|url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/4193.asp|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|date=5 October 2002|accessdate=27 April 2013}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Swimming – Men's 50m Freestyle Startlist (Heat 6)|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=00010406003E000000FFFFFFFFFFFF00|format=PDF|work=Athens 2004|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=24 March 2013}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Men's 50m Freestyle Heat 6|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympics_2004/swimming/results/3535048.stm|work=Athens 2004|publisher=BBC Sport|date=20 August 2004|accessdate=31 January 2013}} 5. ^{{cite news|last=Thomas|first=Stephen|title=Men’s 50 Freestyle Prelims Day 6: Hall Splashes a Hot 22.04, Fastest Qualifier; Lezak Makes This One but Popov, Hoogie Bow Out|url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7897.asp|publisher=Swimming World Magazine|date=19 August 2004|accessdate=19 April 2013}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=雅典奧運 中華台北選手王紹安游泳遭淘汰|trans-title=Olympic swimming: Chinese Taipei swimmer Wang Shao-an eliminated in Athens|language=zh|url=http://www.epochtimes.com/b5/4/8/19/n632889.htm|publisher=Epoch Times|date=19 August 2004|accessdate=30 November 2015}} 10 : 1984 births|Living people|Taiwanese male swimmers|Olympic swimmers of Taiwan|Swimmers at the 2004 Summer Olympics|Swimmers at the 2002 Asian Games|Swimmers at the 2006 Asian Games|Swimmers at the 2010 Asian Games|Male freestyle swimmers|Sportspeople from Taipei |
