A departure from Gartner's previous releases of primarily DJ tracks, the album includes collaborations with several hip-hop artists, including Eve, Jim Jones, and Cam'ron.[1] Although introducing this new facet of Gartner's music, Weekend in America features a mix of both pure DJ tracks and tracks with hip-hop influence. Singles from the album included "Illmerica", "Ménage à Trois", "Space Junk", "Forever" (featuring will.i.am), and "Still My Baby" (featuring Omarion). Critical reception{{Album ratings| rev1 = About.com | rev1Score = {{Rating|4.5|5}}[2] | rev2 = Sputnikmusic | rev2Score = {{Rating|3|5}}[3] }} Ben Norman of About.com commended Gartner, saying he "decided to stick to what he knew, and thank goodness he did", noting the track "Forever" as "a superb example of what a good producer can achieve" and that "Illmerica" "showcases exactly what is so magical about this producer."[2] Megan Rozell of Blogcritics stated that "within seconds of listening, any listener will become addicted and dance along. It is an absolutely successful first album from the already widely acclaimed producer/DJ."[4] Sputnikmusic critiqued Gartner for using "some outside help to compliment his beats", writing that "even on the solo stuff you can't help but get the feeling that he may just be operating on auto-pilot, cruising along completely assured of his imminent success" and that album found itself "doing a rather excellent impression of being adequate; adequate, but by no means great" but that "Wolfgang still needs to be commended for producing a rather solid, if slightly tainted, house release that will see him reach a level of success that he does rightly deserve".[3]Track listing{{Track listing| total_length = | title1 = Get 'em | note1 = featuring Eve | length1 = 3:23 | title2 = Space Junk | length2 = 3:29 | title3 = Ménage à Trois | note3 = | length3 = 5:08 | title4 = Circus Freaks | note4 = featuring Jim Jones and Cam'ron | length4 = 3:25 | title5 = 818 | note5 = | length5 = 4:11 | title6 = Forever | note6 = featuring will.i.am | length6 = 3:47 | title7 = The Way It Was | length7 = 5:46 | title8 = Shrunken Heads | length8 = 4:07 | title9 = Still My Baby | note9 = featuring Omarion | length9 = 3:38 | title10 = Illmerica | note10 = | length10 = 5:38 | title11 = The Champ | length11 = 4:19 }}{{Track listing | headline = iTunes Store bonus tracks[5] | total_length = | title12 = Welcome Back | length12 = 5:04 | title13 = Cognitive Dissonance | length13 = 5:36 }} References1. ^{{cite web|author=Akshay Bhansali release report for MTV|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1671100/wolfgang-gartner-weekend-in-america-eve-diplomats.jhtml|title=Eve, Diplomats Turn Out For Wolfgang Gartner's Weekend In America}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|last=Norman|first=Ben|title=Wolfgang Gartner - 'Weekend in America'|url=http://dancemusic.about.com/od/reviews/fr/Wolfgang-Gartner-Weekend-In-America.htm|publisher=About.com|accessdate=November 1, 2012}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|title=Wolfgang Gartner - Weekend In America (staff review)|url=https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/45661/Wolfgang-Gartner-Weekend-In-America/|publisher=Sputnikmusic|date=September 20, 2011|accessdate=November 1, 2012}} 4. ^{{cite web|last=Rozell|first=Megan|title=Music Review: Wolfgang Gartner - Weekend in America|url=http://blogcritics.org/music/article/music-review-wolfgang-gartner-weekend-in/|publisher=Blogcritics|date=October 9, 2011|accessdate=November 1, 2012}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Weekend In America (Bonus Track Version) by Wolfgang Gartner|url=https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/weekend-in-america-bonus-track/id464119402|publisher=iTunes Store|date=September 20, 2012|accessdate=November 1, 2012}} External links
