William Ogle, 1st Viscount Ogle (died 1670) was an English soldier and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1640 to 1643. He fought on the Royalist side in the English Civil War. Ogle was born in Northumberland and settled in Winchester. He was knighted in 1628. He was a colonel in the war against the Scots.[1] In April 1640, Ogle was elected Member of Parliament for Winchester in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected MP for Winchester in the Long Parliament in November 1640.[2] He was serving in Ireland in 1643 when King Charles recalled him and he seized Winchester for the crown [1] He was disabled from sitting in parliament in June 1643.
