CareerBorn in Renfrew, Gallacher's career as a footballer was fairly short due to the interruption of World War II, in which he served in the Royal Engineers. He played for St Anthony's (Junior grade), Celtic,[1] Falkirk, Ayr United, St Johnstone and Inverness Thistle.[2] His brother was fellow footballer Tommy Gallacher.[3] They were the sons of Patsy Gallacher, one of Celtic's legendary players who also spent time at Falkirk. Tommy's son Brian also became a footballer, as did the son of another brother, Kevin, who played for Scotland at World Cup 98.[4][5] The Gallachers are also related to another footballing branch of the family, John Divers and his son of the same name who both played for Celtic.[6] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.fitbastats.com/celtic/player.php?playerid=2532|title=Celtic player Willie Gallagher profile|work= |publisher=Fitbastats|date=|accessdate=2 October 2017}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/player3/williegallagher.html|title=Profile|accessdate=12 January 2014|publisher=Post War English & Scottish Football League A - Z Player's Transfer Database}} 3. ^https://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/2015/08/26/blether-with-brown-jiggery-pokery-yes-celtic-had-goals-disallowed/ 4. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/tommy-gallacher-1-587793|title=Tommy Gallacher obituary|date=6 October 2001|publisher=The Scotsman|accessdate =19 June 2017}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/football/premiership/4466659.Kevin_Gallacher_life_story_part_2__Growing_up_was_tough_as_grandson_of_late_great_Patsy/|title=Growing up was tough as grandson of late great Patsy|date=3 July 2009|publisher=This Is Lancashire|accessdate =19 June 2017}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/obituary-john-divers-footballer-and-teacher-1-3550544|title=Obituary: John Divers, footballer and teacher|work= |publisher=The Scotsman|date=24 September 2014|accessdate=2 October 2017}} External links
