It is named for the Dutch botanist Pieter Willem Korthals.[2]DescriptionXanthophyllum korthalsianum grows up to {{convert|25|m|-1}} tall with a trunk diameter of up to {{convert|30|cm|0}}. The inflorescences are branched and may be much longer than the leaves.[2]Distribution and habitatXanthophyllum korthalsianum is a rare species, growing naturally in Sumatra and Borneo.
