It is found in France, Italy and Ukraine.[1]The larvae feed on Prunus mahaleb. After hatching, young larvae hibernate and become active the following spring. Second instar and older larvae spin a silk tent and feed gregariously on the leaves of their host plant from within this tent. The tent is gradually expanded along the same branch.[2] TaxonomyMany authors regard Yponomeuta mahalebella as a form of Yponomeuta padella.[3] References1. ^Fauna Europaea 2. ^Variation in herbivory by Yponomeuta mahalebella on its only host plant Prunus mahaleb along an elevational gradient {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130711145243/http://www.plant-animal.es/personal/cam/Alonso.1999.Ecol.Entomol.pdf |date=July 11, 2013 }} 3. ^lepiforum.de
