It was described by Carl Heinrich in 1939. It is found in Peru.[1] The wingspan is about 45 mm. The forewings are grey with a brown shade and darker markings and the hindwings are almost wholly white. The larvae feed on Opuntia ficus-indica. They feed on the fruit and occasionally the young growth. They are solitary feeders, which normally complete their development in one fruit, but sometimes two adjacent fruits are attacked by a single larva. The larvae are blue-green. Pupation takes place in a cocoon made within the hollowed-out fruit.[2] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://globiz.pyraloidea.org/Pages/Reports/TaxonReport.aspx |title=GlobIZ search |website=Global Information System on Pyraloidea |accessdate=2011-10-07}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q13584138}}{{Phycitini-stub}}2. ^{{cite journal |last1=Mann |first1=John |year=1969 |title=Cactus-Feeding Insects and Mites |url=https://repository.si.edu/handle/10088/10142 |journal=Bulletin of the United States National Museum |doi=10.5479/si.03629236.256.1}} 2 : Moths described in 1939|Phycitini |
