Şemsettin Mardin was one of the Turkish ambassadors. Mardin was born in Egypt.[1] He was a member of very long-established family.[1] He was uncle to Arif Mardin and Betul Mardin.[2] He served as the ambassador of Turkey to Lebanon from 1960 to 1962.[3] He married Reya Hanim, daughter of Ahmed Cevdet Pasha who founded the daily Ikdam.[2] Their son, Şerif Mardin, is an academic.[1] After retiring from diplomatic post, Şemsettin Mardin settled in Maadi, a district of Cairo.[2] He died there.[2] References1. ^1 {{cite news|last=Polat|first=M.
