In its first season under head coach Raymond Starbuck, the team compiled an 11–1 record, shut out 10 of 12 opponents, and outscored all opponents by a combined total of 333 to 14. The only loss was by an 8–6 score against Princeton.[1] Five Cornell players received honors on the 1901 College Football All-America Team: guards Bill Warner (Walter Camp-1) and Sanford Hunt (Camp-2, Caspar Whitney-1); quarterback Alfred A. Brewster, Jr. (Whitney-2); halfback Henry Purcell (Camp-2); and fullback Henry Schoellkopf (Camp-3).[2][3][4] Schedule{{CFB schedule|attend=yes |source=yes |September 28| |{{cfb link|year=1901|team=Colgate|title=Colgate}}|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 17-0|1,000|[5][6] |October 2| |{{cfb link|year=1901|team=Rochester Yellowjackets|title=Rochester}}|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 50-0| |[7] |October 5| |Bucknell|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 6-0| |[8] |October 9| |{{cfb link|year=1901|school=Hamilton College (New York)|title=Hamilton}}|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 39-0| |[9] |October 12| |{{cfb link|year=1901|school=Union College|title=Union}}|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 24-0| |[10] |October 19| |Carlisle|Stadium of the Pan-American Exhibition|Buffalo, NY|W 17-0|18,000|[11] |October 26| |Oberlin|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 29-0| |[12] |November 2| |Princeton|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|L 6-8| |[13] |November 9| |Lehigh|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 30-0| |[14] |November 16|at|Columbia|Polo Grounds|New York, NY|W 24-0| |[15] |November 23| |Vermont|Percy Field|Ithaca, NY|W 68-0| |[16] |November 28|at|Penn (rivalry)|Franklin Field|Philadelphia|W 23-6|18,000|[17] }} References1. ^{{cite web|title=1901 Cornell Big Red Schedule and Results|publisher=Sports Reference LLC|work=SR/College Football|accessdate=December 10, 2015|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/cornell/1901-schedule.html}} {{Cornell Big Red football navbox}}2. ^{{cite web|title=All-America Teams |publisher=Walter Camp Football Foundation |url=http://waltercamp.org/index.php/teams_and_awards/P100/ |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130213031358/http://waltercamp.org/index.php/teams_and_awards/P100/ |archivedate=2013-02-13 |df= }} 3. ^{{cite journal|journal=Spalding's Football Guide|page=47|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Xws7AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA47#v=onepage&q&f=false|title=All-America Team of 1901|via=Google books|accessdate=March 8, 2015|year=1902}} {{Open access}} 4. ^{{cite news|author=Caspar Whitney|title=The Sportsman's View-Point|work=Outing |year=1902|url=http://www.la84foundation.org/SportsLibrary/Outing/Volume_39/outXXXIX04/outXXXIX04v.pdf}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell Wins From Colgate|newspaper=The Philadelphia Inquirer|date=September 29, 1901|page=10|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16919218/cornell_wins_from_colgate/|via=Newspapers.com}}(Percy Field) 6. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell Wins First Game|newspaper=The Times (Philadelphia)|date=September 29, 1901|page=10|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16917943/cornell_wins_first_game/|via=Newspapers.com}}(attendance: 1,000) 7. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell, 50; Rochester, 0|newspaper=The New York Times|date=October 3, 1901|page=8|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16919139/cornell_50_rochester_0/|via=Newspapers.com}} 8. ^{{cite news|title=Close Call for Cornell|newspaper=The Pittsburg Press|date=October 6, 1901|page=20|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16919079/close_call_for_cornell/|via=Newspapers.com}} 9. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell Beats Hamilton|newspaper=Rochester Democrat and Chronicle|date=October 10, 1901|page=15|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16918448/cornell_beats_hamilton/|via=Newspapers.com}} 10. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell, 24; Union, 0|newspaper=The Brooklyn Daily Eagle|date=October 13, 1901|page=9|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/16918729/cornell_24_union_0/|via=Newspapers.com}} 11. ^{{cite news|title=Cornell, I Yell!!
