It proved to be the Fighting Irish's only home-field loss in 125 games between 1899 and 1928.[3][4] Notre Dame had originally considered the game a "practice game" and expected to win easily when the game was scheduled the previous year, but began to take the team more seriously as the 1905 season developed.[5] Schedule{{CFB schedule|{{CFB schedule entry | date = | w/l = l | opponent = {{cfb link|year=1905|team=Butler Bulldogs|title=Butler}} | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 0–6 }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = September 23 | w/l = w | opponent = Sheridan HS (IN) | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 80–0[6] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = September 30 | w/l = l | away = y | opponent = Chicago | site_stadium = Marshall Field | site_cityst = Chicago, IL | score = 0–15[7] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = October 4 | w/l = l | away = y | opponent = Illinois | site_stadium = Illinois Field | site_cityst = Champaign, IL | score = 0–6[8] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = October 7 | w/l = l | away = y | opponent = Northwestern | site_stadium = Northwestern Field | site_cityst = Evanston, IL | score = 0–5[9] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = October 14 | w/l = l | away = y | opponent = Purdue | site_stadium = Stuart Field | site_cityst = West Lafayette, IN | score = 0–12[10] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = October 21 | w/l = w | away = y | opponent = Notre Dame | site_stadium = Cartier Field | site_cityst = South Bend, IN | score = 5–0[11] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = October 28 | w/l = w | opponent = {{cfb link|year=1905|team=Earlham Quakers|title=Earlham}} | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 11–6 }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = November 4 | w/l = w | opponent = {{cfb link|year=1905|team=Lake Forest Foresters|title=Lake Forest}} | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 53–0[12] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = November 11 | w/l = w | opponent = {{cfb link|year=1905|team=Knox Prairie Fire|title=Knox (IL)}} | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 57–0[13] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = November 18 | w/l = l | away = y | opponent = Indiana | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Bloomington, IN | score = 0–40[14] }} |{{CFB schedule entry | date = November 25 | w/l = w | opponent = {{cfb link|year=1905|team=DePauw Tigers|title=DePauw}} | site_stadium = | site_cityst = Crawfordsville, IN | score = 52–0[15] }} }}table reference[1] Roster
