In its fifth year under head coach Myron E. Witham, the team compiled an 8–1–1 record (5–0–1 against RMC opponents), won the conference championship, was not scored upon during the regular season, lost a post-season game to undefeated Hawaii in the Poi Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a total of 237 to 13.[1][2] The team's string of nine consecutive shutouts remains the longest in program history.[3] On October 11, 1924, the team played its first game at the newly-constructed Colorado Stadium. The Silver and Gold defeated {{cfb link|year=1924|team=Regis Rangers|title=Regis College}} by a 39–0 score in that game.[4] The team's leading players included Hatfield Chilson and George Wittemeyer. On October 18, 1924, Chilson completed a pass to Wittemeyer that was good for 70 yards. It remained the longest passing play in program history until 1985.[4] Schedule{{CFB schedule|attend=yes |source=yes |October 4||{{cfb link|year=1924|team=Western Colorado Mountaineers|title=Western State (CO)}} |October 11||{{cfb link|year=1924|team=Regis Rangers|title=Regis (CO)}} |October 18|at|{{cfb link|year=1924|team=Colorado College Tigers|title=Colorado College}}|Washburn Field|Colorado Springs, CO|W 26-0|| |October 25|at|Wyoming|Campus athletic grounds|Laramie, WY|W 21-0|| |November 1||Utah|Colorado Stadium|Boulder, CO (rivalry)|W 3-0|| |November 8||{{cfb link|year=1924|team=Colorado Mines Orediggers|title=Colorado Mines}}|Colorado Stadium|Boulder, CO|W 38-0|| |November 15|at|Denver||Denver, CO|T 0-0|| |November 22||Colorado Agricultural|Colorado Stadium|Boulder, CO (rivalry)|W 36-0|| |December 25|at|Pearl Harbor Navy |January 1, 1924|at|Hawaii }} References1. ^{{cite web|title=2018 Colorado Football Media Guide|publisher=University of Colorado|year=2018|pages=154, 172|accessdate=January 26, 2019|url=https://static.cubuffs.com/custompages/football/2018_Info_Guide/part_2-153-267.pdf}} {{Colorado Buffaloes football navbox}}{{Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football champions}}{{DEFAULTSORT:1924 Colorado Silver and Gold football team}}2. ^{{cite web|title=1924 Colorado Buffaloes Schedule and Results|publisher=Sports Reference LLC|work=SR/College Football|accessdate=January 26, 2019|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/colorado/1924-schedule.html}} 3. ^2018 Colorado Football Media Guide, p. 254. 4. ^2018 Colorado Football Media Guide, p. 196. 5. ^1 {{cite news|title=Regis College Bows To Colorado Eleven|newspaper=The Arizona Daily Star|date=October 12, 1924|page=15|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/27667651/regis_college_bows_to_colorado_eleven/|via=Newspapers.com}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=Colorado Avalanche Buries Navy by 43-0 Score|newspaper=Honoloul Star-Bulletin|date=December 26, 1924|page=8|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/27668579/colorado_avalanche_buries_navy_by_430/|via=Newspapers.com}} 7. ^{{cite news|title=University of Hawaii Humbles Colorado Thirteen to Zero|newspaper=Honolulu Star-Bulletin|date=January 2, 1925|page=9-10|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/27668371/university_of_hawaii_humbles_colorado/|via=Newspapers.com}} 4 : 1924 Rocky Mountain Conference football season|Colorado Buffaloes football seasons|Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football champion seasons|1924 in sports in Colorado |
