Cal Poly was a two-year school until 1941, and competed in the California Coast Conference (CCC). This was the last year for the CCC. The Mustangs had competed in the conference since its founding in 1922 and would become an Independent in 1929. The team was led by eighth-year head coach Al Agosti and played home games in San Luis Obispo, California. They finished the season with a record of three wins, four losses and two ties (3–4–2, 1–2–1 CCC). Overall, the Mustangs were outscored by their opponents 45–90 for the season, including being shut out in five of the nine games.
