释义 |
Elections to Ayrshire County Council were held on 10 May 1955. The Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889 established Ayrshire as an administrative county, governed by a County Council. Following the election the council was composed of 25 Labourites, 16 Progressives/Moderates, and an Independent. The former council had composed 24 Labourites, 15 Progressives/Moderates, and an Independent. Due to the splitting of several larger divisions 3 new seats had to be filled.[1] Aggregate results{{Election Summary Begin|title = Midlothian County Council election, 1955[1]Contested Seats}}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Scottish Labour Party |seats = 25 |gain = |loss = |net = |seats % = |votes % = |votes = |plus/minus = }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Progressives (Scotland) |seats = 16 |gain = |loss = |net = |seats % = |votes % = |votes = |plus/minus = }}{{Election Summary Party| |party = Independent (politician) |seats = 1 |gain = |loss = |net = |seats % = |votes % = |votes = |plus/minus = }}{{Election box end}} Results by divisionReferences1. ^1 {{cite news |last= |first= |date=12 May 1955 |title=VOTING POWER UNCHANGED: Ayr County Council |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=GGgVawPscysC&dat=19550512&printsec=frontpage&hl=en |newspaper=The Glasgow Herald |location= |page=12 |access-date= }} Notes{{notelist}}{{United Kingdom local elections, 1955}} 2 : 1955 Scottish local elections|Politics of Ayrshire |
