It kicked off on 15 October 1965 and ended on 2 June 1966. This was the first season that featured a double round-robin format where each team played all the other teams in the league twice, once home and once away, meaning each team played ten games. Al-Firqa Al-Thalatha won their first league title, and the first title in the history of the teams that were later merged to form Al-Jaish in 1974. Al-Firqa Al-Thalatha also beat Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya 1–0 in the one-match Al-Muthabara Cup.[1] League table
