Down entered the championship as defending champions, however, they were defeated in the Ulster Championship. On 24 September 2000, Cork won the championship following a 2-12 to 0-13 defeat of Mayo in the All-Ireland final. This was their 10th All-Ireland title overall and their first title in seven championship seasons.[1] ResultsAll-Ireland Minor Football ChampionshipSemi-finals{{footballbox collapsible| date = 20 August 2000 | round = Semi-final | time = | team1 = Cork | score = 0-15 - 0-14 | team2 = Derry | report = | goals1 = J Masters 0-6, J Collins 0-2, M O’Connor 0-2, K McMahon 0-1, Kieran Murphy 0-1, N O’Leary 0-1, C Murphy 0-1, B Hegarty 0-1. | goals2 = C O’Neill 0-6, M Donaghy 0-2, G Donaghy 0-2, J Kelly 0-2, P Young 0-1, B McGuigan 0-1. | attendance = | stadium = Croke Park, Dublin | referee = G Kinneavy (Roscommon) | stack = yes }}{{footballbox collapsible | date = 27 August 2000 | round = Semi-final | time = | team1 = Westmeath | score = 1-9 - 1-9 | team2 = Mayo | report = | goals1 = C Whyte 0-5, T Browne 1-1, A Hickey 0-1, P Leavy 0-1, C Brennan 0-1. | goals2 = P Prenty 1-2, C Mortimer 0-4, A Burke 0-1, T Geraghty 0-1, C Rowland 0-1. | attendance = | stadium = Croke Park, Dublin | referee = M McGrath (Donegal) | stack = yes }}{{footballbox collapsible | date = 9 September 2000 | round = Semi-final replay | time = | team1 = Mayo | score = 0-7 - 0-6 | team2 = Westmeath | report = | goals1 = C Mortimer 0-4, P Prenty 0-1, C Rowland 0-1 A Dillon 0-1. | goals2 = D McDermott 0-1, T Browne 0-1, A McCormack 0-1, PJ Ward 0-1, N Adamson 0-1, A Hickey 0-1. | attendance = | stadium = Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, Carrick | referee = A Mangan (Kerry) | stack = yes }}Final{{footballbox collapsible | date = 24 September 2000 | round = Final | time = | team1 = Cork | score = 2-12 - 0-13 | team2 = Mayo | report = | goals1 = C Brosnan 1-2, C Murphy 0-5, M O’Connor 1-1, G McLoughlin 0-2, J Masters 0-1, K McMahon 0-1. | goals2 = C Mortimer 0-6, E Barrett 0-2 P Prenty 0-2, D Flynn 0-1, A Dillon 0-1, S Drake 0-1. | attendance = | stadium = Croke Park, Dublin | referee = M Monaghan (Kildare) | stack = yes }} References1. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2008/0928/238817-minor_foot_roh/|title=All-Ireland Minor Football Championship: Roll Of Honour|publisher=RTÉ Sport|accessdate=20 September 2011|date=19 November 2012|first=|last=}} {{All-Ireland Minor Football Championship}} 2 : All-Ireland Minor Football Championships|2000 in Gaelic football |
