At beginning of the season, the head coach was Bobby Knight; however, Knight was fired early September 2000, and Mike Davis was named interim head coach.[1] The team played its home games in the Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana, and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers finished the regular season with an overall record of 21–13 and a conference record of 10–6, finishing 3rd in the Big Ten Conference. After losing in the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament to Iowa, the Hoosiers earned a 4-seed in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. However, IU made a quick exit with a first round loss to 13-seed Kent State.[2] Roster{{CBB roster/Header|year=2000|team=Indiana Hoosiers|teamcolors=y}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Jared|last=Jeffries|num=1|pos=F|ft=6|in=10|lbs=|class=Fr|link=y|rs=|home=Bloomington, Indiana}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=A.J.|last=Moye|num=2|pos=G|ft=6|in=3|lbs=|class=Fr|link=|rs=|home=Atlanta}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Tom|last=Coverdale|num=3|pos=G|ft=6|in=2|lbs=|class=So|link=|rs=|home=Noblesville, Indiana}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=George|last=Leach|num=5|pos=F/C|ft=6|in=11|lbs=|class=Fr|link=|rs=|home=Charlotte, North Carolina}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Dane|last=Fife|num=11|pos=G|ft=6|in=4|lbs=|class=Jr|link=y|rs=|home=Clarkston, Michigan}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Andre|last=Owens|num=20|pos=G|ft=6|in=2|lbs=|class=Fr|link=|rs=|home=Indianapolis, Indiana}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Kyle|last=Hornsby|num=32|pos=G/F|ft=6|in=5|lbs=|class=So|link=|rs=|home=Anacoco, Louisiana}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Mike|last=Roberts|num=33|pos=G|ft=6|in=9|lbs=|class=Fr|link=|rs=|home=Eugene, Oregon}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Kirk|last=Haston|num=35|pos=F/C|ft=6|in=10|lbs=|class=Jr|link=y|rs=|home=Lobelville, Tennessee}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Jarrad|last=Odle|num=43|pos=F|ft=6|in=8|lbs=|class=Jr|link=|rs=|home=Swayzee, Indiana}}{{CBB roster/Player|first=Jeff|last=Newton|num=50|pos=F|ft=6|in=9|lbs=|class=So|link=y|rs=|home=Atlanta}}{{CBB roster/Footer|head_coach=
