The 2001 Sacramento State Hornets football team represented Sacramento State University[1] during the 2001 NCAA Division I-AA football season.

Sacramento State competed in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets were led by seventh-year head coach John Volek and played home games at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. They finished the season with a record of two wins and nine losses (2–9, 1–6 Big Sky). Sacramento State outscored its opponents 249–424 for the season.
