It was the 28th season for the Demon Deacons, and their 28th in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 2007 season was the first, and so far only, season where the program won the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, where they bested Ohio State in the championship match. The Deacons won the match 2-1, in a come-from behind victory. Wake Forest's Marcus Tracy tied the match in the 66th minute, while Zack Schilawski scored the match-winner in the 74th minute.[1] Background{{main|2006 Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's soccer team}}Wake Forest finished the 2006 season as the regular season co-champions alongside Duke.[2] They were given the number two seed for the 2006 ACC Men's Soccer Tournament, in which they lost to Duke in the championship game 0–1.[3] Despite the loss, the team earned a place in the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament as the two seed for an at-large bid.[4] After beating Santa Clara in the quarterfinals, Wake Forest would go on to face UC Santa Barbara in the College Cup.[5] However, they would lose to UC Santa Barbara 3–4 on penalties.[6] ReviewAs of the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, the 2007 title remains the only title won in Wake Forest program history.[7] The team would have three players, Pat Phelan, Brian Edwards, and Julian Valentin, selected in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, with Phelan picked in the first round.[8] RosterThe following players played on the 2007 team.[9] {{fs start}}{{fs player |no=0 |nat=USA |pos=GK |name=Akira Fitzgerald}}{{fs player |no=1 |nat=USA |pos=GK |name=Brian Edwards}}{{fs player |no=2 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Sam Cronin}}{{fs player |no=4 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Julian Valentin}}{{fs player |no=5 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Pat Phelan}}{{fs player |no=6 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Austin da Luz}}{{fs player |no=7 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Cline Beam}}{{fs player |no=9 |nat=USA |pos=FW |name=Marcus Tracy}}{{fs player |no=10 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Corben Bone}}{{fs player |no=11 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Jamie Franks}}{{fs player |no=12 |nat=USA |pos=FW |name=Zack Schilawski}}{{fs player |no=13 |nat=SLE |pos=MF |name=Michael Lahoud}}{{fs player |no=15 |nat=USA |pos=FW |name=Alimer Gonzalez}}{{fs player |no=16 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=David Murphy}}{{fs mid}}{{fs player |no=17 |nat=USA |pos=FW |name=Cody Arnoux}}{{fs player |no=18 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Evan Brown}}{{fs player |no=19 |nat=USA |pos=FW |name=Nick Courtney}}{{fs player |no=20 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Jeff Leach}}{{fs player |no=21 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Russ Coleman}}{{fs player |no=23 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Ike Opara}}{{fs player |no=24 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Ryan Swaim}}{{fs player |no=25 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Will Clayton}}{{fs player |no=26 |nat=USA |pos=DF |name=Justin Lichtfuss}}{{fs player |no=27 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Dylan Sansone}}{{fs player |no=28 |nat=USA |pos=MF |name=Josh Henke}}{{fs player |no=30 |nat=JAM |pos=FW |name=Lyle Adams}}{{fs player |no=31 |nat=USA |pos=GK |name=Austin Chelko}}{{fs end}}SchedulePreseason{{Football box collapsible|round = |date = August 20 |time = 6:00 PM EST |team1 = Furman |score = 0–2 |report = http://www.wakeforestsports.com/sports/m-soccer/stats/2007-2008/820.html |team2 = {{sup|No. 2}} Wake Forest |goals1 =
