The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the two Congressmen, and the councilors, six in each of the city's two legislative districts. BackgroundOn October 7, 2015, the current city mayor Oscar Malapitan announced that he would run again for mayor of Caloocan City under the "Tao Ang Una" (People First) party. Originally, Tao ang Una was Malapitan's campaign slogan during the 2013 elections, but he formed his own political party that was approved by the COMELEC on September 18. Malapitan represented and chaired the city's United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) chapter.[1] Tao Ang Una party was composed of city-based politicians affiliated with the Liberal Party (LP), Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) and UNA. Among them was the LP Vice Chairman for Political Affairs and District 2 Representative Edgar Erice and Vice Mayor Macario Asistio III. Malapitan, sought re-election in the elections, up against the former city mayor and District 1 Representative Recom Echiverri, who ran under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC). Both Malapitan and Echiverri also faced Macario "Boy" Asistio III, who served as the city mayor of Caloocan for 14 years.[2] Candidates{{unreferenced|section|date=December 2018}}Mayor{{Election box begin no change|title=Caloocan City Mayoralty Election }}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change| |party = Nacionalista Party |candidate = Oscar Malapitan |votes = 301,384 |percentage = 62.4% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Nationalist People's Coalition |candidate = Enrico Echiverri |votes = 171,115 |percentage = 35.4% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Macario "Boy" Asistio, Jr. |votes = 8,591 |percentage = 1.8% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Zenia Cabaluna |votes = 1,000 |percentage = 0.2% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Ricky Carpio |votes = 645 |percentage = 0.1% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Ruffy Bayon-on |votes = 464 |percentage = 0.1% }}{{Election box total no change |votes = |percentage = 100.00% }}{{Election box end}} Vice Mayor{{Election box begin no change|title=Caloocan City Vice Mayoralty Election }}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change |party = Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino |candidate = Macario "Maca" Asistio III |votes = 332,190 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change |party = Nationalist People's Coalition |candidate = Rodolfo "Ato" Oliva |votes = 90,596 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Adolfo de Castro |votes = 12,486 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate no change| |party = PBM |candidate = Brother Patapat |votes = 2,700 |percentage = }}{{Election box total no change |votes = |percentage = }}{{Election box end}} Representative, 1st District{{Election box begin no change| title=2016 Philippine House of Representatives election in Caloocan's 1st District}}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change||party = Liberal Party (Philippines) |candidate = Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan |votes = 215,131 |percentage = 68.5% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Nationalist People's Coalition |candidate = Susana Punzalan |votes = 90,636 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate no change| |party = PBM |candidate = Romualdo Orbe |votes = 2,989 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan |candidate = Garth Gollayan |votes = 2,371 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Violeta dela Cruz |votes = 1,742 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Glenn Openiano |votes = 1,158 |percentage = }}{{Election box total no change |votes = |percentage = }}{{Election box end}} Representative, 2nd District{{Election box begin no change| title=2016 Philippine House of Representatives election in Caloocan's 2nd District}}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change||party = Liberal Party (Philippines) |candidate = Edgar Erice |votes = 100,095 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Nationalist People's Coalition |candidate = Mitzi Cajayon-Uy |votes = 51,792 |percentage = }}{{Election box candidate no change| |party = PBM |candidate = Edgardo Espiritu |votes = 2,601 |percentage = }}{{Election box total no change |votes = |percentage = }}{{Election box end}} CouncilorTeam Oca
