The resident voters elected officials for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the one congressman, and twelve councilors. At the end of filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) last October 16, 2015, a total of 77 hopefuls have filed their COC for city's 15 elective positions: 10 are running for congressman, 5 for mayor, 2 for vice-mayor, and 60 for city councilors.[1] Candidates for Lone District RepresentativeVicente Belmonte, Jr. (LP) is the incumbent. However, he is already on his last term and ineligible for reelection. Instead, he decided to run for mayor. However, he later dropped his candidacy.[2] Three candidates from the ruling party are vying for the lone congressional seat; they are acting mayor Ruderic Marzo, former mayor Lawrence Lluch-Cruz and current councilor Frederick Siao. At the end, Cruz luckily received the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) from Liberal Party.[3] Later, Ruderic Marzo withdrew his candidacy for congressman. {{Election box begin no change| title=2016 Philippine House of Representatives election in Iligan City}}{{Election box winning candidate with party link no change||party = United Nationalist Alliance |candidate = Frederick Siao |votes = 34,222 |percentage = 29.93% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Nationalist People's Coalition |candidate = Alipio Cirilo Badelles |votes = 26,267 |percentage = 22.97% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Liberal Party (Philippines) |candidate = Lawrence Lluch-Cruz |votes = 21,521 |percentage = 18.82% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines |candidate = Vermin Quimco |votes = 13,662 |percentage = 11.94% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan |candidate = Franklin Quijano |votes = 13,540 |percentage = 11.84% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Melchora Ambalong |votes = 2,378 |percentage = 2.07% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Uriel Borja |votes = 1,993 |percentage = 1.74% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Samson Dajao |votes = 381 |percentage = 0.33% }}{{Election box candidate with party link no change| |party = Independent (politician) |candidate = Luis Carrillo |votes = 363 |percentage = 0.31% }}{{Election box total no change |votes =124,915 |percentage =100% }}{{Election box end}} Candidates for MayorSuspended mayor Celso Regencia (NPC) is the incumbent.
